Paa is the most appropriate one in this entire list. This movie was totally based on a father and son relationship which was quite unusual. Father and son both were equally intelligent though the son had a very rare disorder called progeria. The fact that father was completely unaware that he had a son named Auro and still felt connected to Auro was quite an amazing thing to watch.
2. Wake Up Sid
Anupam Kher played the character of Ranbir’s father in the movie and was more than perfect for the character. He wasn’t strict but concerned about his son’s future and so took some decisions which his son Siddharth (Ranbir) disagreed. Later he chose his own career as per his interest and makes his father proud.
Udaan is low budget film that portrays a relationship between a sensible son and an abusive father who never understands his children. Finally the elder one decides to take responsibility of his younger brother and both of them leave the hose forever. Such abusive parents do exist in reality.
4. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Farhan Akhtar and Nasruddin Shah’s characters met after years and found out they were so similar. The scene was of their meeting was bang on and had so much of depth.
5. Ye Jawani Hai Deewani
Farooq Shah played the character of Ranbir’s father. He knew his son so well and was very supportive and sweet towards his son. On the other hand Ranbir’s character was shown selfish and at the end he regrets after he realizes his mistake.
6. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham
Amitabh Bachchan’s character was fiercely dominating towards his family and hence have differences with his son. Later, Rahul (Shahrukh) decides to face his dad and make him realize that he was being unreasonable. And finally the movie has a happy ending.
7. Patiala House
Akshay’s character is brought up in England and he is good at playing cricket. He takes his favourite sports seriously and gets selected in England cricket team. His father thinks he is betraying his motherland and so should quit his career and no more play on behalf of England. By the end of the movie father realizes his mistake and feels proud about his son’s victory.
This is a family drama where father is an ex-boxer who was disqualified for fake doping charges. So, to take revenge he trains his elder son but due to lack of resources in India his son decides to quit his boxing career and starts business. The father feels betrayed and eventually son becomes a World Champion and fulfils his father’s wish.
The relation of a father who adopts an orphan kid who is very sharp and studious is very touchy. The kid grows up and turns out to be a perfect son who is well settled and respects his father a lot more than his own kids.
10. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
This was probably the sweetest father-son relationship. When son says he believes the girl (Simran) loves him too, his father encourages him to go after her.
11. Waqt: The Race Against Time
Waqt is a story between a father and son who share a special bond. Initially Akshay’s character is quite irresponsible towards his life, but later father chuck his son and his wife out the house and teaches him a lesson to make him realize his responsibilities.
12. Dil Dhadakne Do
Dil Dhadak Ne Do is a movie where Anil Kapoor has played a completely different character. He is a strict father who is very dominating and ends up with differences in opinion with his son and later realizes his mistakes and feels guilty.
13. Taare Zameen Par
This father- son jodi was quite an emotional one with a happy ending. A father who never understands his son and blames him for being lazy. Later, realizes he is a dyslexic child who is talented and has a special interest for painting.
