While the whole world knows about adoptions by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, there are many celebrities closer home, who have adopted children and continue to inspire everyone around the world.
1) Sushmita Sen
Sushmita Sen adopted her first daughter Renee after a long battle with law. In fact when the word adoption comes up we can think about our former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. She then wanted to be a mother all over again. And earlier the law was if you adopt one girl child as your first baby, you can’t adopt another girl child. And to her luck the High Court changed the rules and she adopted a girl child again and named her Alisah.
2) Salim Khan
Salim Khan adopted his daughter Arpita when she was a little girl and since then she is the heart and soul of Khan Family. Arpita is always seen with her family and recently got a tattoo with the names of family members in it.
3) Mithun Chakraborty
Mithun Chakraborty was one of the most talked about celebs in his active years. He adopted a girl who was lying in a garbage bin. He named her Dishani.She has now grown up as a beautiful lady with her brothers Namashi, Rimoh and Mimoh.
4) Raveena Tandon
She adopted two baby girls when she was 21 and leading actress in many of the hit films those days. She named the Pooja and Chhaya. While Pooja is married, Chaya works as an event manager.
5) Kunal Kohli
Kunal Kohli is one of the most renowned directors and director of a popular show Koffee with Karan, who along with his wife adopted a baby girl and named her Radha. Kunal said that the adoption process was very lengthy to ensure that the adopted kids grow in a secured environment.
6) Subhash Ghai
The famous Bollywood Director and his family adopted a baby girl and named her Meghna. She pursued her higher studies in London and today she is looking after her production school Whistling Woods.
7) Dibakar Banerjee
Director of some popular films like Khosla ka Ghosla, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and Love, Sex Aur Dhokha adopted a baby girl with his wife Richa. They adopted her from an orphanage in Mumbai in the year 2010 and named her Ira.
8) Sandeep Soparrkar
The famous dance director Sandeep Soparrkar adopted a baby boy and named him Arjun.
He looked after him as a single father since 2007 and later married his girlfriend Jesse Randhawa. He is probably known as a first male to adopt a son all alone without a partner.
Shobhana who is one of the popular actress and classical dancer in South India belongs from Kerala. She is unmarried and decided to adopt a baby girl. She named her Anantha Narayani and her rice eating ceremony was celebrated in famous Guruvayoor temple in Kerala.
10) Nikhil Advani
A well known director of popular movies like Salaam-e-Ishq, Kuch Kuch Hota hai, Kal Ho Na Ho along with Suparna his wife adopted a baby girl. They adopted her when she was 4 years old and named her Keya.
If you remember a super hit movie ‘Sathiya’ starring Salman Khan and Revathi. She is a legendary actress in south and hails from Kerala. Recently she appeared in the movie ‘2 States’ as Alia’s mother. The actress is back after a long time as she was busy raising her adopted daughter Mahee.
12) Preity Zinta
Best Bollywood Actress Preity Zinta has adopted 34 girls from Mother Miracle School, Rishikesh, in 2009. She looks after their education, food, clothes and upbringing. She meets her girls twice in a year.
13) Rahul Bose
Actor Rahul Bose has adopted 6 children from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He runs a charity organization in Andaman and Nicobar. His organization works for underprivileged children. For kids education, he has admitted them at Rishi Valley School in Andhra Pradesh.
14) Samir Soni and Neelam Kothari
Samir Soni is a former model and television actor. He got married to the former actress-turned-jewellery designer Neelam Kothari. They decided to adopt a baby girl and their daughter name is Ahana Soni.
