1. Neerja’s death.
On September 5, 1986 Pan Am Flight 73 was hijacked in Karachi airport by four armed terrorist. The pilot, co-pilot and flight engineer abandoned the aircraft and passengers. It was Neerja who took care of the passengers and the crew.
2. She was witty and brave.
She hid American passports after realising they were the main target and later the terrorists began the fire Neerja managed to open emergency door and asked the passengers to leave and save their lives. Later, while saving three bullets she was hit by several bullets and she couldn’t survive the attack.
3. Award that she deserved.
Neerja Bhanot was the first and only woman recipient of the Ashoka Chakra, India’s highest civilian award of bravery.
4. She was very professional.
Neerja was a beautiful model and had appeared in few ads and commercials. She was very bright as a child and her mother stated she was punctual and mature with both her profession.
